No Internet!
Our home net connection is offline, forcing us to use iPhones for all
Internet access. It feels like the stone age in here ... And the
repairman won't come till Friday!

I was mentioned in this blog post from an AJAX Experience attendee. I never actually said what he says I said, but maybe I implied it. At any rate, at least he says it was a great talk. And in return, I'll say that Aptana is a cool product!

This stereotypical image and other San Francisco treats (haha!) are available on my flickr page in this set.
My talk at the AJAX Experience is over. I had written myself a note
I did the last one, at least.
Actually, it seemed to go fine. Attendance was great and I was asked
some good questions.

Now that I have the iPhone, it is a little excessive to still have the nano, the shuffle, and the 30-gig iPod Video. So ... the nano is going on ebay.
Heard in the halls of Microsoft today: "I have immense respect for them and they job they do ... but they are always f*cking wrong."
I'm loving the blog "uncov," which is about all things Web 2.0, except from the point of view of reality. You can't beat lines like, "I didn't learn anything because I suffer from a condition known as common sense."
Harley-Davidson just introduced the 2008 FAT BOB motorcycle. I had been thinking that I would keep the Fat Boy for one more year, but the Fat Bob may convince me otherwise!

We went up to the peak of Whistler today. That's about it so far. Took some pix, which I'm collecting here.
We've actually seen an exchange rate as high as 97 US cents for one Canadian dollar. Wow! The first time I came to Canada, I think the rate was 65 US cents to the loonie. At this rate, parity isn't far behind, and then it'll start being expensive to come to Canada! Oh well, that'll just keep the riff-raff out (and the Canadians in).
Hill-Shading effects got turned on today on Virtual Earth. I think they look awesome ... and are proof that sometimes, a single person can make a big difference (in this case, that single person wasn't me).
It's the little things. Today, we both noticed that if we get a call from our home number, which is stored in both of our contacts listings on the phone, it displays the caller ID as "Laurel or David Stewart." Cool, so they matched both contacts and combined our last name. But what about folks who share a phone but not a last name? We changed Laurel's name to her maiden name, dialed again, and sure enough, the caller ID was "Laurel Kuhn or David Stewart." An amazing little touch that only Apple would have thought of.
Although the coolest "discovery" so far was when Laurel figured out how to move the cursor during input without reading the manual (keep pressing on an input field to get a magnifying glass -- making it super-easy to move the cursor precisely).
