The State Border Song

I'm in Couer D'Alene, Idaho, which means I only have one more state border to cross before heading home tomorrow. If you've ever crossed a state border with me while driving, you know two things:
  1. The 50 un-tax-stamped cases of cigarettes and whiskey we have in the trunk are now a federal crime
  2. You have to sing the State Border Song
How does the song go? It's easy! You just need to know the name of the state, and how to spell the first three letters of it (you can usually get this from the sign that often appears near the border). Let's take tomorrow's state, Washington, for example:
W-A-S-A-H-O-M-A, Washington! OK!
That works for every state, but best for Oklahoma. There is only one exception: If you are driving a Ford Model A in a Zoot suit, and are entering Idaho, you may sing:
Ida-ho! Ida-hey! Ida-ho-da-ho-da-hey!

Well, we now know who you take after.....I sing O-K-L-A-H-O-M-A every time we come home from vacation and I sing at all state borders. Your father tries to distract me so I won't see the signs but I never miss one! I love the Ford-zoot suit song---I laughed until I cried!!
