The Road to Hana

This is one of the must-do trips/sights of Maui according to multiple guidebooks. Yet, I still have to ask, "why the hell would anyone ever want to go to Hana?" You could drive halfway to Hana and not miss anything. You could drive 1/4 of the way to Hana, stop in Paia, and have a great time. The goal for today is not to get in the car for any reason.

I must admit that a) There was NOTHING in Hana itself, so why build a road there and then insist everyone take it, and b) The drive took so much out of me that I've practically slept the entire day away today; however ... I think the lava tube and black sand beach are reasonable destinations, although you're so tired of driving (and worrying about the drive back) at that point, it is difficult to appreciate them fully.
