I took 15 separate shots of downtown Seattle from West Seattle's public boat launch area on Alki. Just handheld shots, no tripod. I used the nearly magical PTGUI tools to stitch them together. The resulting image is about 7 feet long!
Here is the final image [warning: 3+ megs].
You'll notice some banding in the sky itself, but otherwise, very good for just reeling off 15 shots with no real plan to do this. (For example, I stupidly left my camera set on ISO800 from a previous shot, resulting in a lot of graininess in these photos -- ISO200 would have been much better).
I have sent the photo off to be professionally printed (for around $21) on a 7-foot poster sheet, but in the meantime, I just printed it myself on my inkjet printer and framed each individual section, and it looks really great hanging on my wall.
