Our transportation changes

I've been meaning to post about this for a while, but with the motorcycle thing, it seems appropriate now.

We have two cars (SUV and convertible), a boat, and two motorcycles.

The plan is to sell the boat, the two cars (and now maybe one of the motorcycles at least!) and replace it all with a Toyota Prius or other gas/electric hybrid.

With me commuting 40 miles a day (usually in the SUV) and with Laurel usually taking the bus (instead of her Audi TT), it makes a lot of sense to downsize to something more economical.

The problems so far: Need to actually sell those vehicles. The boat isn't selling so far, and we haven't put the others on the market yet. Also, the Toyota Prius is so popular that there is a $500 deposit required just to get on the waiting list for one in Seattle!

The Prius does sound pretty cool, though, especially if you get the top-end package which has the stuff I "need" like navigation and a "smart key" that just detects that you have the key in your pocket so you don't actually need to use it to unlock or start the car.
