What can be salvaged from the Mariners' season
I have no idea why I'm inspired to post about the Mariners.
But here are a few things that have made me happy this season.
- Willie Bloomquist's race for immortality - nearly making it an entire calendar year without an extra base hit. It pretty much represented the season as a whole. As an aside, I do like having the guy on the team and wish him the best of luck getting off the DL.
- Carlos Silva going to the DL with Jeff Weaveritis.
- Ichiro!
- Ryan Roland-Smith. He could be a good starter next year. And he's smoking hot.
- That time when Richie Sexson charged the mound and got tossed from a game for no reason at all. Man, that was weird and funny at the same time.
- Felix hitting a grand slam.
- Raul Ibanẽz's recent tear. On one hand, your team is in trouble if your star offensive player is Raul Ibanẽz. On the other, good for him. Now please, someone take the poor man out of left field and DH him for remainder of his career in Seattle.
- When Jamie Burke pitched.
- When our pitchers talk to the media and try to deflect from their own lacking performances. Perhaps Wash and Silva should follow Erik Bedard's example, both in pitching better and just not talking to the press.
- The awesome Mariners commercial featuring Jose (and Pepe) Vidro, John McLaran, and Bill Bavasi. It's nearly as good as the one that had Pokey Reese in it a few years back.
