I was looking for a job and then I found a job.

Looks like I'm not allergic to work

so I guess I'll keep the job. :)

I finally got my corpnet account this afternoon, and had my first meetings. I feel like a real worker bee now. I even got a new mugshot for my cardkey. I don't know why I always looks so angry in those. Probably because it always takes so long for my accounts to be ready.

first (partial) week back to work

"No, I'm allergic to shellfish; Trina's allergic to work."
Logan, Veronica Mars

So I worked Thursday and Friday this week. Of course there were the usual account screw ups that seem to follow me around Microsoft so I haven't been given my corpnet password yet and thusly haven't set up a computer yet. I spent those 2 days working beside a very nice guy whose duties I'm taking over. His last day will be Monday, so if IT doesn't get me set up, there's going to be a world of hurt. But, other than that, I'm happy to be back. Everyone is very nice and the job seems to be a good fit.

Strangely, I'm having some kind of allergic reaction to something. Thursday and Friday nights I broke out in hives on my way home from work. They go away by morning. I'm trying to track down whatever it is that's causing this. Could I literally be allergic to work? Sadly I seem to be allergic to coming home, which is worse.

Monday TV round up

I hate to say it, but Prison Break was WAY more exciting than 24 tonight. 24 had Action!Milo, Drinking!Morris, and Big!Reveal!Logan, but not much happened. Prison Break had the sad, but awesome, break up of team Scofield/Burrows/Kellerman/TANCREDI. Sorry, Paul, you had to go. You are still a Magnificent Bastard, but you're on your own.

Speaking of Logans, go watch my favorite Logan on TV in Veronica Mars on your local CW affiliate Tuesdays after Gilmore Girls. It's really good. There's also some chick named Veronica in it. (She's pretty cool too.)

Additionally

Live shows - Festival of the Lion King>Finding Nemo the Musical>Voyage of the Little Mermaid

For those who are on the edge of their seats wondering how I did with my pin trading, I put out 10-15 pins every morning with the goal of trading all of them. It worked every time. I completed my bus set, and I have 5 of 8 monorails. I saw a kid in line who had 7 of 8 and briefly considered knocking him down and stealing his pins but thought better of it. I got a super cool cast-only Fast Pass pin that's part of a set of 4 so I'm going to be on the lookout for it next time. I wasn't going to buy any pins this trip, but ended up buying 6.

Disney Trip - the recap version

All in all it was a good trip. The length, 7 days, was just about right. Traveling solo let me wing it and do things like devote time to pin trading. I did miss having Dave around for doing things like mocking all the fat families.

Pop Century - thumbs up for a solo trip, probably not enough room for me and Dave to share, but then again we need a 3600 sq. ft. house to keep the peace around here.
Pop Century bus service - good. better than expected.
Pop Century cast members - thumbs up.
Pop Century neighbors - loud. The room could have been more soundproofed, but I think these were just loud people. I hate loud people. Of course they could have thought the soundproofing was really good since they never heard anything from my room.
Weather - cold. 1/8 of my budget for the week went for cold weather purchases - heavy sweatshirt, hat and gloves, Sudafed because walking around in the drizzle finally caught up with me on the 5th day.
Crowds - not there. I waited in NO LINES. I took Tour Guide Mike's advice for which parks to visit on which days and did everything as a walk-on.
Fireworks - Fantasmic>Princess & Pirate>Wishes>Illuminations
Parades - SpectroMagic>Animal Kingdom==Princess & Pirate>Stars & Motorcars
Best opening ceremonies - Magic Kingdom
Best cast members - Animal Kingdom
Theme parks - Animal Kingdom>Epcot>Magic Kingdom>MGM
Rides - RockNRollercoaster==Expedition Everest>Tower of Terror==Soarin'>Big Thunder Mountain==Splash Mountain>Space Mountain
3D movies - Mickey's Philharmagic==It's Tough to be a Bug>Muppets 3D>>Honey, I Shrunk the Audience
Enchanted Tiki Room - still reducing toddlers to screaming terror, which is awesome. I mean sad. Very, very sad.
Pirates of the Caribbean makeover - thumbs down. Too sedate, not enough yo ho, yo ho. Beginning effect was very, very cool though.
Shopping - Magic Kingdom>Downtown Disney>MGM>Epcot>Animal Kingdom
Themepark food - Animal Kingdom>Epcot>Magic Kingdom>MGM
Restaurants - Artist Point>Raglan Road>Kona Cafe>Pop Century food court>>Grand Floridian Cafe
Spa at Saratoga Springs - disappointing. It was kind of spartan. Hopefully the Mandera at the Swan/Dolphin will be better in May.

A few pictures

You can now order by touchscreen at the snack bar at the Polynesian.

How I feel when Dave isn't around.

Self-portrait with fishies.

Pal Mickey is ready for the weather!

Surprise!

So tonight I got back to my room after dinner and there was a Graco Pak-n-Play in my room! I have no idea why. But I called the front desk to let them know that I'm not traveling with children and don't need one for myself, and they said to leave it outside and housekeeping would pick it up. Then I had to figure out how to take it down. It could not have been more obvious that I know nothing about children and their many accessories as I attempted to break it down to leave outside the door. Eventually I got it. Maybe I'll get the child that goes with it tomorrow.

And on the 4th day, she slept in
